Occurence in the month of Pangguni

This festival occurs on the full moon day (pournami) of the Tamil month of Pangguni. On this day the star is Utiram. This is normally a temple festival.

In Malaysia many Lord Murugan temples celebrate the birth of Lord Subramanya. There are special abishekams and pujas followed by a procession of Lord Subramanya in a chariot. To witness these celebrations thousands of devotees flock to the Nattukottai Chettiars Thendayuthapani Temple in Kuala Lumpur and Marathandavar in Maran, Pahang.
